We are Zamarad and we have been trading from Dubai since 1963, 8 years prior to the formation of the UAE. We started the business using Traditional Emirati Dhows and trading up and down the coast. Textiles, commodities and electronics.
We then began our African adventure starting with trading in Uganda in 1966 and spreading to many other countries on the continent such as Tanzania, Rwanda, Angola, Mozambique and South Africa.
Who We Are
The foundation of Zamarad was the realisation that there was a need in markets with fluctuating currencies, the challenge of reach for many businesses to connect with top suppliers in their industries, the risks of hedging currencies in developing nations and facilitating the management of long-term contracts and the ease of dealing with one company instead of managing a portfolio of many suppliers for our customers.
What We Do
As the business dynamics around the world shifted, we decided to adapt our model to become a more niche business-to-business company rather than trading directly with the end consumer on the ground. By learning from our customers regarding their needs, the business evolved over the decades into a new model that it is today and became a credible buying house in the region.
Using favourable trading policies of UAE, securing high quality and consistent supply of products from around the world and offering extended lines of credit to our customers by leveraging relationships and accumulated goodwill that we had developed over the years, we found ample gaps in the market to thrive.
